Our East Fullerton call pattern is genuinely seasonal in a way that most of the city is not. Between November and March, when a significant storm is forecast, this is one of the corridors we stage equipment for in advance rather than reacting to afterwards.
Storm water that gets inside is contaminated by definition — it has crossed streets, driveways and landscaping before it reached a threshold — so it is handled as a Category 3 loss with containment, removal of porous materials and cleaning before disinfection, not simply extraction and drying.
The insurance point matters enormously here and it catches people every winter. A standard homeowners policy covers sudden internal water damage but generally excludes flood, meaning surface water entering from outside. That is separate coverage. If you are near the creek corridor, it is worth knowing what you actually hold before the storm rather than after.
The rest of the year, East Fullerton behaves like any other 1960s tract neighbourhood, and the slab leaks and water heaters keep us busy between storms.
